As listener # 379, I am honored to write the first review of this fine St. Patrick's Day recording of this fine St. Patrick's Day show. Being 25% Irish, I would have loved to have been there! Instead I was at the always giant St. Pat's parade in St.Paul MN, having a great time just the same.
So OK the show & recording:
I luv AUDs for a reason: they put you there if they are done right, which is the case here. Lotsa crowd pleasers and teasers, lotsa Sing-A-Longs, lotsa love from the boys to the people and back and all round the room. I personally luv the perfectly timed not too loud YELP from a gal sitting (dancing carefully?) with the tapers in #15, I Need a Miracle.
Phil's heart is bigger than his bass, if such a thing is humanly possible, in Box of Rain #2 and all they way through to Spoonful to #18 The Weight.
Speaking of Spoonful, what the hades does it meaan, a spoonful of water, diamonds, and gold. The situation calls for a spoonful of coke, IMHO.
Can't say anything new or original about Jerry & Bob & Mickey & Brent & Bill & Phil. really, just gotta say you'll enjoy yourself with this one.
PS/ for Enquiring minds, the reason my reviews are always top stars is because if it ain't top stars I keep quiet..if you can't say something nice, run a Dead tape through your head & all that...
